Is STD testing confidential?
Yes, all our services, including STD testing, are completely confidential. Your privacy is our top priority, and we handle all information with the utmost discretion. We follow state guidelines on reporting positive results to the health department however- it’s standard for all medical practices in Illinois, you know, It’s the law.
How often should I get tested for STDs?
It is recommended to get tested every 3 months if you are sexually active, especially with new or multiple partners. We can help you determine the appropriate testing schedule based on your individual risk factors. Let’s chat about it!
What should I expect during a routine health check up?
During your initial check-up, our healthcare provider will conduct a comprehensive telehealth evaluation, review your medical history, and discuss any health concerns you may have. We may also perform lab tests based on your need.
Do you offer hormonal therapy?
Not yet! But we will consider this in the near future.
Can I make you my primary care provider?
We don’t recommend it!! Services are offered as an extension of your primary care provider. Many patients report they don’t feel heard, or are uncomfortable talking to their primary care provider about their sexual health needs, HIV treatment & prevention strategies, and men’s health issues. To put it simply, we promise that you’ll feel comfortable at your visit with us.
How do I do testing or treatment if you’re telehealth?
We partner with Quest diagnostics for lab testing. Live in the Chicagoland area? “Google” Quest Diagnostics and see how far it is for you. They’re taking over the city, and often 5-8 miles from your home. Those results will return to our office via our secure electronic health record within a few days, and recommendations are given afterward. Some testing supplies may need to be mailed to your home address. Medications can be sent into your preferred pharmacy for pick up, or we can set up mail service delivered to your home!
I got a bill that doesn’t look right, what do I do?
Let us know! Our goal is to nip it in the butt, sooner than later! Email us a copy of the bill with any additional information you find out from your insurance company. Send this info to: Billing@TheMensHealthPlace.com

My general practitioner wants me to see an infectious disease doctor for HIV treatment, what should I do?
Our medical lead is certified through the American Academy of HIV Medicine for HIV treatment and prevention. We are happy to treat your needs virtually, and supply notes to your PCP with vaccine recommends that we cannot provide virtually. Some vaccines CAN be prescribed at your local Walgreens, let’s talk about it.
Tell me more about medication refills?
Sure! All medications are typically prescribed at the time of your appointment. Medication refills will be held on file at your preferred pharmacy, for up to 1 year after the initial prescription. If you need to fill the medication, please contact your pharmacy to request that they fill your script.
I initially requested my prescription to be sent to Pharmacy X, now I need it to go to Pharmacy Y. What do I do?
Call Pharmacy Y! Request that they have your prescription transferred from Pharmacy X, to their pharmacy so that you can pick it up! Easy!
Do ya’ll accept Insurance?
Yes! Currently, we are in network with Blue Cross Blue Shield PPO, United Health Care, Oscar, Aetna, Cigna Ever North. We do not currently accept Medicaid or Medicare plans. If The Men’s Health Place is out of network with your insurance, we will accept full payment before your appointment and provide a superbill for you, to request reimbursement with your carrier.
I received a Copay for my PrEP, I thought it was free?
Gilead currently offers copay assistance coupons. Please enroll here, then give the information to your pharmacy to apply the discount. Typically, it is required to do this annually.
